CategoryManager provides a user interface for managing categories on the wiki.

What is CategoryManager?

Where to find the category manager

CategoryManager is a special page. You will find the category management administration interface in the main menu under "Global Actions" in the "Administration" area (visible only to admins).

Where to find CategoryManager The navigation item Global settings > Category manager (in the Management menu) loads the page Special:Category manager.

Clicking on the view icon next to a category opens the category page that lists all wiki pages in this category.

Creating a category

Create a new

New categories can be created by clicking the "plus" button. This opens a dialog box for creating the category.

Deleting a category

To create a new category, click the green "Add" A category can be deleted by:

• selecting a category and clicking the delete button above the

list. You can enter the name of the new category using an input field. This is then sorted into the alphabetical folder of the list. 

Move Category

Moving a category works in category management using the drag-and-drop principle. Drag the category to the destination folder with the mouse.

Deleting a category removes the category from all pages that had the category assignment. It also deletes the category page itself.

Re-ordering a category

To remove a category, select it and click the red "remove" button above the list.

This action deletes both the corresponding category page and removes the category's assignments to the wiki articles.

The category order can be changed by dragging and droping categories in the list. This is achieved by clicking and, while holding down the mouse button, dragging the category up or down. Dropping a category over another category (instead of in-between two categories) creates a subcategory.

Using drag & drop to order categories

Note: It is not possible to rename a category using the category manager. To rename a category, a wiki administrator can use the special page "Replace".
