UniversalExport

Error:

I have recently turned on FlaggedRevisions and now information pertaining to this is printing on the first page of the PDF.

Solution: The revision information will not show up if FlaggedRevs is disabled. The position of the page numbers is set in you PDF Template. Have a look at the definition of "#bs-runningfooterright" in your styles.css and at the margin boxes (e.g. "bottomright") in your page.css

Error:

When I'm trying to create PDFs, I get an error message and no PDF is created. Actually, a PDF is created with 0 kb file size. This worked beautifully until the IT did some patches to the server.

Solution: If the server can not be started / is not running then this is a problem. Please check the following: 1. Find the "Tomcat Service Manager" icon in the system tray of your task bar (bottom right) 2. Right click it and choose "Configure" 3. Select the "Java" tab 4. Check if the path that is set in "Java Virtual Machine" points to an existing file 5. If not find the appropriate file in your file system (there has probably just a version number changed) and set the path 6. Save the settings and try to restart the server

Error: The PDF single page returns a permission error for a user.

Solution: Check if the user has the permission "universal-export" or is in an user group, that gives the permission. The permisson is essentaial for creating PDFs.

Error:

When a numbered list is separated by an image the list does not continue the numbering sequence. Instead the list will restart after the image.

Solution: Unfortunately the "start" attribute of a element is not recognized by the underlying rendering library. The official discussion board suggests to use CSS counters [1]. I did not test it, but it should look like this: ... This assumes that you have a custom counter calles "list-item". You will need some additional CSS like described in [2]. A good place for it would be the wikipage "MediaWiki:Common.css". I had a user send me a PDF that he created after he made some changes to the content, saved the page and then opened the PDF. The PDF did not contain the changes he had just made. I thought he wasn't saving the file. I went into the page, verified that the actual content was was he wanted and sure enough, he was correct. I did some testing: I created a test page, copied the content from his user page into it and created a PDF. I worked fine. I then made some changes, saved the page and created another PDF and it did not show my changes, but showed the original content. So now, I'm really confused. I then, went back to his user page and deleted all the content, saved the page, and then created a PDF (thinking that it would be blank). BUT, the PDF showed the content that I had just deleted. HOW COULD THAT HAPPEN??? I cleared my cache and it was still happening. I made sure that the page break code was correct (in fact, we have been using that for months now and it was working fine). I tried using the Firefox browser and the same behavior! This behavior has just been happening since we installed the BS upgrade. Solution: bug, fixed(patch)

Error:

I would like to generate pdf export of a few pages from universalexport through BSHTML2PDF under a regular basis. Is there a way to this by curl/wget ou query mediawiki Api ?

Solution: Unfortunately there is no dedicated API endpoint or maintenance script for this. But you can easily use cURL to fetch a PDF from http://yourwiki/w/index.php?title=Special:UniversalExport/<some page name>&ue[module]=pdf
